I think I might have found my favourite classical author - Thomas Hardy

Tess of the d'Urbervilles

By Thomas Hardy

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I think I might have found my favourite classical author. This novel was filled with story - if you know what I mean? So much happens.

Poor Tess, she really lucks out during her lifetime. She is used, abused and yet she does her best to carry on.

Although, at times this book is very depressing, Thomas Hardy focus on the injustice that women faced during this era, which was really interesting. Men could get away with just about anything, but women, well, that is a different story altogether.

The two men in Tess's life are Alec and Angel. I could not decide which one I loathed the most, actually, that is a lie, it was Angel because he abandons her.

I thought this novel was really good, and I will definitely be reading more books by this author.

I bought my copy of this book from Waterstones.
