Have you seen those lists - you know the ones where you have to say how many Classical Novels you have read? Well, I have not read very many. Actually, I have not read any, but during lockdown, I decided that this is something that I must remedy, so I started with A Tale of Two Cities. 

The plot is really simple. There are two men who look exactly alike, but one is a drunk lawyer, and the other is a french aristocrat in exile, and they are both in love with the same woman. Obviously, she chooses the aristocratic. And The French Revolution happened!

The story is deceptively simple, but oh my word, this book was long, and Dickens, I am afraid to say, is something of a rambler. His sentences just go on and on and on. Honestly, I nearly fell asleep when I was reading this book. Although I appreciate that many people love this author, I am afraid for me, I won't be reading any more of his books.
