Why I loved The Book Theif by Markus Zusak, and why you should read it too!!

The Book Thief

By Markus Zusak

⭐⭐⭐

This is such a carefully crafted book. Liesel and her brother are meant to be going to live with another family, but tradgey strikes before they gets there. Liesel arrives at her new home and while her foster father is lovely, her foster mother is not. The father makes her a classroom in the basement and she falls in love with reading. But when the Nazis start buring books Liesel starts stealing them. And when a Jewish friend needs a safe place, the foster family risk everything to hide him a great personal risk to thereselves.

This historical backdrop of this story was alive with realism, and the author cleverly explores how a population can be seduced by speaches and false promises.

This is a harrowing story and it is one that will stay with me for a very long time.

MARKUS ZUSAK is the author of the acclaimed, prize-winning and bestselling novel The Book Thief, published worldwide in 2007. His new literary novel BRIDGE OF CLAY is now available. Markus Zusak lives in Sydney, Australia with his wife and two children.

You have just got to read My Life with the Walter Boys by Ali Novak

My Life with the Walter Boys

By Ali Novak

Jackie's life is completley turned upside down when her family dies in a car accident. 😭 She has to move across the country to live with her new guardians the Walters, who have twelve sons (well techincally eleven). Jackie's way of life is turned upside down. Especially, considering some of the older guys are really cute! 😀 And suddenly she finds herself in a middle of a war while two of the brothers fight for her attention!!

Firstly, I really want to live in the Walter's house because they have a really nice house, with land and horses and stuff. I loved Cole, but Alex was really nice too! 😂 This book is really good and I loved every single minute of it.

I picked up this book on Amazon

I am so in love with this series, you have to check out, Paper Hearts by Ali Novak

Paper Hearts

By Ali Novak

Felicity's older sister ran away a couple of years ago and since then she has all the expectations of her mother on her shoulders. So, she tries hard at school, she is saving colllage and she volunteers at a charity masquerade ball. At the ball she meets a boy - but she has no idea who he is because he is wearing a mask! When he removes the mask he turns out to be Alec from The Heartbreakers Band 💖 A band that her bestfriend loves!!

She discovers that her sister had been writing to her but her mother has been hiding the letters from her. Her sister has moved around alot. So Felicity and Alec go on a road trip to see if they can find her.

Out of the two books in the series so far, this was my favourite. Alec and Felicity's relationship is really cute, as Alec is really shy. I wouldn't mind Alec to be my boyfriend!! Why do all the great guys have to be ficitonal??!! 💔 But seriously, this is a great book, and you should read it because i know you will love it as much as I do.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Oh my God! What the hell just happened? I was not expecting that. This novel broke my heart and the ending 😭 I have not cried so much at a book's ending in ages.

I can understand why this book, this series is so very popular. This was one heck of an emotional journey, but so worth the effort I put into reading it.

Katniss, Peeta - how I have grown to love these characters, and I am so going to miss them.

This series is an absolute must read.

I picked up my copy at Waterstones.

You have to read The Hunger Games series - here is my review of Catching Fire

Catching Fire

(The Hunger Games, Book 2)

By Suzanne Collins

 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As soon as I turned the last page to Book 1, I picked up Book 2. I could not wait to get back into this dystopian world with Katniss, Peeta, Gale and Haymitch.

As before with the first book I become utterly engrossed. The sense of realism in this book is amazing, as is the horror that Katniss and her friends face. But her resolve, and her determination to stay alive, and to try and keep Peeta alive as well, made this a page-tuning read.

I adored Peeta in book one but I really came to adore him in this book. He is madly in love with Katniss, and yet Katniss is unsure of her feelings, because she also loves Gale. But there is such a goodness to Peeta, especially in the face of so much horror, that I am hoping that she will end up with him in the end. That's if he survives.

I am absolutly in love with this series, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the final book of the trilogy.

I picked up my copy at my favourite bookshop, Waterstones.

You will need a box of tissues beside you if you read The Hunger Games (Hunger Games Trilogy, Book one) by Suzanne Collins

 The Hunger Games

(Hunger Games Trilogy, Book one)

By Suzanne Collins

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Imagine you lived in a dystopian world where those in charge in the Capital keep order by making children fight to the death in something called The Hunger Games. In order to save her sister from a terrible fate, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her place. If Katniss is to survive then, she must think only of herself. But with such a loving heart, Katniss finds this impossible. She does not want to die, but she does not want her friends to either.

This is an incredibly moving book. Katniss is a reluctant heroine, but a heroine she becomes for she has no choice. Her relationship with Peeta, the other person from her district who has been made to fight in the games, was really sweet. I really liked Peeta, but with every turn of the page, I braced myself for what was to come next.

This is a very emotional read, so have some tissues handy. I can't wait to read book 2.

I picked my copy up at Waterstones, my bookshop of choice!
